Unique, Interesting and Mysterious

I started learning autism after I read Dear John by Nicholas Sparks. And I happen to know about autistic people more clearly when I watched Dear John movie, starring Amanda Seyfried and Channing Tatum. I cling more to it when my friend next door introduced her autistic nephew to me.

So now I'm gonna share with you about autism. Autism is a mental condition characterized by great difficulty in communicating with others and in using language and abstract concepts. It is the result of a neurological disorder that has an effect on normal brain function.

People with autism are socially clumsy, sometimes offensive in their comments and may seem not to be interested in other people at all. They will find it much harder to understand the feelings of other people. Their ability to empathize with others is much weaker.

Many children with autism don't speak at all. They will often repeat words or phrases they hear (echolalia). The speech of a person with autism may sound much more formal and flat. They also like predictability and have obsessions.

See, the symptoms are not so obvious because they're perfectly normal in appearance. If you want to be more clear, you can watch Dear John which features a real autistic boy, Braeden (plays Alan).

But autism is treatable, as long as we accept them in our community.
Don't discriminate, they need us. We're living on a same planet and there's no reason to feel different with others. We're humans. :)
