You might have read this one. And I think the reason of why is it so hard to love ourselves, is because we judge other people too harshly.
Have you been in situation when you're hanging out with friends and they start making fun of a girl? They said she had a weird face, she's fat, etc, on and on and on. As you sit there listening to them, don't you feel suddenly self-conscious?

Because you think there's nothing wrong with that girl. But when everyone's making fun of how she looks, doesn't it make you worry? As for myself, it does. Because they might judge me like they're judging her. What a horrible feeling.
So feel unhappy with our looks because we tend to point out flaws in others. We all do it, either out-loud or in our heads. The media makes it so easy for us to seek out flaws in people, to compare ourselves, and even to gossip about "why's that handsome guy dating her?"
Do you join in when friends talk about "her hair is gross", "her handbag looks like dustbin", or "she shouldn't be wearing that"..?
If you do, now stop right there. Well, you can be curious, but not judgmental. Maybe it makes you feel better for five seconds, 1 minute, whatever..but in the long run it'll make you feel 10 000 times worse.
Women judge each other. Men rank women. Other women eavesdrop and start to feel bad. Discrimination spreads widely here and there. It's just a viscous gross nasty cycle that needs to stop now.
You know you're not good enough to talk bad about someone else, but you're good enough to love yourself. Forget the flaws, look for beauty. Respect!

Well said Aemy!
ReplyDeleteYou know my guy friends always do this. To me, to other girls at school, even to public figures. I used to feel offended about the whole thing, somewhat I see it the positive way after realizing that they're just words and thoughts. So what I'm saying is that actually this isn't all about it is 100% inhuman to do so, but more to accepting flaws in our society. Eh, don't mind le grammar error HAHAHAHA after all, life is all about accepting flaws in our society :p
ReplyDeleteEvery they do because they have a reason.
